| INTRODUCEPT | Inicialmente fundada por padres agostinhos espanhóis em 1591, esta igreja mantém a tradição de organizar uma das procissões mais populares da cidade, a Procissão de Nosso Senhor dos Passos (Via Crucis), que envolve milhares de devotos. No passado, em época de grandes chuvas, os padres costumavam reforçar o telhado com folhas de palmeiras de leque. Vistas de longe, estas folhas assemelhavam-se a bigodes de um dragão em movimento com a acção do vento, pelo que a população chinesa local apelidava esta igreja de Long Song Miu (Templo do Dragão de Bigodes Longos). |
| INTRODUCEEN | First established by Spanish Augustinians in 1591, this church maintains the tradition of organizing one of the most popular processions through the city, the Easter Procession, involving thousands of devotees. In times past, during heavy rain, the priests used to reinforce the rooftop with fan palm leaves. Seen from afar, these leaves appeared to be dragon's whiskers floating in the wind, hence the local Chinese named it Long Song Miu (Temple of the Long-whiskered Dragon). |
