| INTRODUCEPT | As Ruínas de S. Paulo referem-se à fachada da antiga Igreja da Madre de Deus, construída em 1602-1640 e às ruínas do Colégio de S. Paulo, que ficava localizado perto da igreja, os quais foram destruídos por um incêndio em 1835. Em conjunto, a antiga Igreja da Madre de Deus, o Colégio de S. Paulo e a Fortaleza do Monte eram todas construções jesuítas e formavam um conjunto que pode ser identificado como a "Acrópole" de Macau. Os vestígios arqueológicos do antigo Colégio de S. Paulo são um testemunho do que foi em tempos a primeira universidade de modelo ocidental do Extremo Oriente, com um programa académico elaborado. Hoje em dia, a fachada das Ruínas de S.
