| INTRODUCEPT | Construído originalmente em 1784, este edifício albergou a primeira câmara municipal de Macau, função que ainda mantém até à presente data. O nome "Leal Senado" deriva do título "Cidade do Nome de Deus de Macau, Não Há Outra Mais Leal", concedido pelo rei português D. João IV, em 1654. O Edifício do Leal Senado (actualmente conhecido por Edifício do IAM) apresenta um estilo neoclássico e manteve ao longo do tempo todas as suas paredes-mestras e o seu traçado arquitectónico original, incluindo o jardim situado no pátio posterior. No interior do edifício, no primeiro andar, existe um salão nobre que dá acesso a uma exuberante biblioteca, em madeira ricamente decorada, ao estilo da biblioteca do Convento de Mafra, em Portugal, e ainda a uma pequena capela. | INTRODUCEEN | Originally built in 1784, this was Macao's first municipal chamber, a function it maintains to the present. The name "Leal Senado" ("Loyal Senate") derives from the title "City of Our Name of God Macao, There is None More Loyal" which was bestowed by Portuguese King Dom John IV in 1654. The "Leal Senado" Building (now known as IAM Building) is neo-classical in design and has retained all its original master walls and primary layout, including the courtyard garden in the back. Inside the building on the first floor there is a ceremonial meeting room that opens onto an elaborate carved library styled after the library of Mafra Convent in Portugal, and a small chapel.
